Growing up in Hueytown Dr. Canant knew he wanted to be a vet when he was 6 years old, it is his dream. 

Dr. Canant graduated from Auburn in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences and in 1984 from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating he moved to Tuscaloosa.  Dr. Canant opened Canant Veterinary Hospital with the pet's best interest in mind in 1992. He has a special interest in surgical lasers, geriatric medicine, and orthopedics. 

He has three children: Kristen (21 years), Noah (12 years), and Laney (10 years). He lives on a small farm in Ralph with his three legged cat, Ricky Allen (3 years).

He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Surgical Laser Society, and Tuscaloosa Business Exchange.  drcanant@canantvet.com
